BQuest practices a parallel grantmaking strategy, directly building and investing in projects that increase renewable energy and decrease emissions. At the same time, we fund advocacy groups fighting for the bigger, systemic changes that are critical to achieving a just and livable future. We know that climate advocacy and policy are the key to meeting the targets laid out in the Paris Climate Agreement and to ensure a just transition. BQuest provides funding for a variety of climate advocacy organizations that operate both in the San Diego region and nationally.

Climate Action Campaign
Climate Action Campaign is the leading climate advocacy organization in San Diego and Orange County. Climate Action Campaign fights for a zero carbon future through the lens of justice and equity and focuses on 5 key goals: communities powered by 100% renewable energy, bikeable-walkable neighborhoods, achieving a world-class transportation system for the region, all-electric methane free homes, and an increase in shade trees and other resiliency measures.
Climate Action Campaign is helping build a movement of allies and community members by spearheading the creation and growth of the San Diego Green New Deal Alliance, crafting and watchdogging local climate action plans, and expanding their work to Orange County where they’re helping enact bold climate action plans and establish community choice energy programs that will achieve 100% renewable energy.
Building Electrification Institute
The Building Electrification Institute (BEI) envisions a world where we no longer burn fossil fuels in our buildings. To accomplish this, BEI assists cities across the U.S., including San Diego, in their building decarbonization efforts by equipping them with the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to accelerate an equitable transition of buildings away from fossil fuels and toward efficient electric systems. The BEI team is comprised of former city employees bringing their experience and understanding of government to accelerate building electrification. BEI understands that cities have the influence and resources needed to enter into partnerships across multiple sectors to ensure robust and equitable electrification strategies.
SanDiego350
SanDiego350 is building a movement to prevent the worst impacts of climate change and climate injustice through education and outreach, public policy advocacy, and mobilizing people to take action. SanDiego 350 is a part of the international 350.org climate action movement, but is an independent San Diego County-wide organization that has grown to include a team of staff, volunteers, and over 8,000 members.
SanDiego350 is committed to working through the entrenched economic and political status quo of fossil fuel dependence by ensuring that corporations and governments implement justice-focused policies and practices. SanDiego350 organizes and mobilizes a broad, diverse, grassroots movement in order to drive the dramatic policy changes we need for a decarbonized economy. With 15 active teams of volunteers, a youth climate leadership program, and a growing team, SanDiego350 fights climate change using a multi-pronged, multi-layered approach.
