Our Strategies.

1

Place-Based

We practice place-based granting and investing in San Diego and the broader southern California region for three reasons: Collaboration, Community, and Leadership

2

Impact Investing and Fossil Fuel Divestment

We believe that all assets of a foundation can be used in support of the mission.

3

Multiple Layers of Impact

We focus on multiple layers of impact, particularly with an emphasis on environmental equity, in order to make a bigger impact per dollar granted or invested.

3

Parallel Grantmaking

We practice a parallel grantmaking strategy, directly building projects that increase renewable energy and decrease emissions while also funding advocacy groups fighting for bigger, systemic changes.

Through a creative financing approach that helps the non-profit take advantage of solar tax incentives, and then using a combination of a grant… Read More »SunForAll Solar Fund

Hacking for Climate

And now for something a little different in climate funding… BQuest is supporting a series of climate hackathons culminating in a data competition later this year with CDP, the global environmental disclosure non-profit. BQuest’s resident nerd, Andy, has a long and storied participation in hackathons, and helped spearhead this effort to hack for a cause! When you hear about a company’s reported carbon emissions, or investors focusing on corporate sustainability, it’s probably information that… Read More »Hacking for Climate

Electric Vehicle Fund Pilot ProgramBuilding on our partnership with The MAAC Project in San Diego, BQuest and MAAC are working on launching an Electric Vehicle (EV) fund pilot program to help interested low-income families and individuals purchase EVs and be able to access the financial and environmental benefits of EV ownership. Electric vehicles, on average, cost less than half as much to operate as gasoline-powered vehicles.  Not only do EVs save on fuel… Read More »They’ve got the chargers, now for the cars…
