The Project
Dubuque Rescue Mission (DRM) is a community organization located in Dubuque, IA that is dedicated to helping the needy through love and faith. Their focus includes providing hospitality, spiritual hope, food, shelter, clothing, and job development. Primarily operating as a homeless shelter, Dubuque Rescue Mission also runs a free meal program, serving 250 meals daily. Additionally, they have a garden program producing 2,000 pounds of food annually for their meal initiative.
BQuest proudly supports Hammond Climate Solution’s Solar Moonshot Program with individual grants that help nonprofit organizations across the United States afford the switch to clean energy. Aided by a grant through the Solar Moonshot Program, Dubuque Rescue Mission's solar project will be implemented on their greenhouse. The cost savings from this installation will be able to be reinvested into their garden program.
What They Are Saying
“The Dubuque Rescue Mission Garden is excited to take a big step toward our goal of resiliency by going solar! Every year we grow thousands of seedlings in our greenhouse and electricity is one of the highest costs to this endeavor – solar will cover that cost and more! Our seedlings are primarily for our own garden, which produces over 2000 pounds of food each season for our free meal program, but we also cultivate seedlings for a few other not-for-profit gardens and plant giveaways in the area.”
