PROGRAM EV ACCESS PILOT

YEAR 2021

The Project

BQuest, together with partners MAAC and Beneficial State Bank, created a low-interest electric vehicle loan program called EV Access to make driving electric vehicles more accessible for lower to middle income buyers.

MAAC, a nonprofit community organization serving San Diego County, has a mission of maximizing self-sufficiency for families and individuals in San Diego through high quality programs and advocacy, focusing on housing, health and wellness, education, employment training, and more.

BQuest's deposit-backed loan guarantee at Beneficial State Bank created access to lower-interest loans for program participants. MAAC provided purchasers with assistance applying for EV rebate programs, financial education, and support in learning about and selecting and purchasing an EV.

During the earliest pilot of the EV Access Program, BQuest also provided grants to replace rebates when the rebate program ran out of funding and 4 individuals from the MAAC community were able to purchase their first electric vehicle.

What They Are Saying

"With rising gas prices I was determined to make the switch. The team (at MAAC) was patient and kind with me as I didn’t know a lot about electric vehicles. They helped me apply for incentives and rebates to save money, worked with me to pick out the perfect vehicle, and were available when I needed assistance throughout the process. Electric cars are the future and I am happy I made the switch.”
