The Project

Koinonia Farm, founded as an Intentional Christian community in 1942, has a long history of welcoming and sharing with others regardless of race, religion, or background, operating a hospitality house, a sustainable farm, and an internship program. Koinonia Farm also launched the Partnership Housing Movement which has since grown and expanded into the well-known organization Habitat for Humanity. Koinonia Farm has dedicated itself to nurturing the land and the human spirit by embracing unity, sustainability, and social justice principles. The nonprofit has championed soil stewardship, fostering a harmonious relationship with nature that sustains the land and its inhabitants. Their ethos extends beyond environmental stewardship, encompassing dedication to racial and economic justice, equity, non-violence, and peace. Central to Koinonia Farm's mission is its farming program, open to individuals from all walks of life. Koinonia Farm's internship program offers a unique opportunity for individuals to deepen their understanding of sustainable living and community engagement. Through hands-on experience and mentorship, interns emerge as stewards of the land and advocates for social change.

BQuest proudly supports Hammond Climate Solution's Solar Moonshot Program with individual grants that help nonprofit organizations across the United States afford the switch to clean energy. With the help of BQuest's grant through the Solar Moonshot Program, Koinonia Farm has installed a 27.4 kW solar array that signifies a new chapter in their journey toward sustainability and community service.

What They Are Saying

"We will no longer be dependent on coal and gas, and we can demonstrate to all the thousands of guests who visit us each year that Koinonia Farm, 82 years later, is still caring for Earth, the people who make this place their home, and all the guests, visitors, and neighbors who are part of Koinonia's life."
