YEAR 2021
The Project
BQuest provided bridge loans combined with grants to San Diego-based community nonprofit MAAC to install EV charging stations at two multifamily affordable housing locations in Vista and Lakeside. Bridge loans helped speed installation of the new chargers that were awarded rebates through the CALeVIP Program, and grant funding covered gap costs beyond the rebate.
MAAC's mission is maximizing self-sufficiency for families and individuals in San Diego County through high quality programs and advocacy, focusing on housing, health and wellness, education, employment training, and more. BQuest has also partnered with MAAC on their EV Access Program which seeks to increase the adoption of electric vehicles in underserved communities. Ensuring that charging stations are readily available to MAAC residents, clients, and staff will help to increase access to the benefits of driving electric.
What They Are Saying
"MAAC has long had a goal to increase adoption of electric vehicle use in our communities. We began by installing EV charging stations so that early adopters would feel confident they have access to accessible and affordable chargers. Thanks to BQuest Foundation, we received a generous grant and were able to draw down CALeVIP funding. BQuest also provided technical assistance for the project. Our MAAC community can begin to realize the vision for equity and climate justice, while at the same time helping families with financial literacy and building their credit score.."
