FUNDING GRANT

The Project

Northern California Land Trust (NCLT) provides affordable housing and facilities for low-income residents using cooperative and community ownership models that help ensure housing and economic justice for all. NCLT received a Solar Moonshot grant to help install solar on their affordable housing site, Peace Gardens, in Oakland. The environmentally-conscious residents at Peace Gardens advocated for energy efficiency upgrades, including induction cooktops, that were not covered by the solar installation grant. BQuest provided a small grant to purchase 6 induction cooktops for each of the units.

What They Are Saying

“We are so grateful for the opportunity to switch out our existing gas stoves with not just a typical electric stove, but with the high- efficiency induction stoves. These stoves are much easier to clean than the gas stoves, and we love the durable flat surface. Water boils very quickly and the temperature seems really accurate and immediate. Though there was a slight learning curve on how to cook with it, we are very happy."
