FUNDING GRANT

The Project

Northwest Side Community Development Corporation's (NWSCDC) mission is to create jobs, build partnerships, and strengthen communities. NWSCDC has promoted a multi-faceted economic and community development strategy in Milwaukee since 1983, supporting the community through range of services, initiatives, and small business loans.

NWSCDC's Green Tech Station is a 3-acre brownfield site reimagined as a green infrastructure destination featuring stormwater capture, bioswales, native prairie, hundreds of trees watered from the underground stormwater cistern, a constructed wetland, outdoor classroom and pavilion, and more. The solar from this Solar Moonshot grant constructed on the pavilion provides both energy for the site and a demonstration of green technology for visiting groups.

What They Are Saying

"Northwest Side Community Development Corporation is excited to bring solar to Green Tech Station! This new system will offset our energy use at the site, but more importantly, adds to the collection of green technologies and learning opportunities available in Milwaukee's 30th Street Corridor. Green Tech Station is a growing outdoor destination for education around stormwater management, green energy, and more."

- Andrew Haug, Senior Development Manager, NWSCDC
