The Project
Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Carlsbad is a progressive Christian community within the United Church of Christ. Through social justice ministries, environmental advocacy, migrant assistance, anti-racism efforts, prison outreach, food distribution programs, and enriching educational opportunities for all ages, Pilgrim UCC is deeply woven into the wellbeing of its community.
BQuest Foundation proudly supports the Hammond Climate Solutions’ Solar Moonshot Program with individual grants that help nonprofit organizations across the United States transition to clean, renewable energy. Through this partnership, Pilgrim United Church of Christ installed three solar and battery systems that will significantly reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. The project is expected to save the church more than $325,000, allowing those resources to directly strengthen their preschool, social justice programs, and community outreach efforts. Beyond the financial benefits, the clean energy produced will greatly reduce the church’s long-term carbon footprint, reinforcing their commitment to stewardship and sustainability. As a congregation actively engaged in climate activism and serving as the North County hub for SanDiego350’s environmental work, Pilgrim UCC is taking meaningful action for a more just and sustainable future.
