The Project

The mission of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra is to build and enrich community through the experience of live music of the highest quality. Formed in 1928-29 as the first professional symphony orchestra in the Southwest, the Tucson Symphony Orchestra is the longest continuously performing professional arts organization in Arizona. Tucson Symphony Orchestra provides a wide range of orchestral and educational programming to serve over 50,000 patrons and 20,000 students annually. While the Tucson Symphony Orchestra holds its large orchestral productions at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall, they also host chamber concerts, rehearsals, and free “Just for Kids” events at the Tucson Symphony Center located in the Sugar Hill neighborhood.

Tucson Symphony Orchestra has owned the center since 1996 and the cost of electricity has historically made up over 25% of the Center’s operating costs. By partnering with the SunForAll Program, which included financing from BQuest Foundation, Tucson Symphony Orchestra was able to install an 86 kW solar parking structure system that will be able to generate enough energy to provide over $600k in savings over the next 25 years. These savings will help Tucson Symphony Orchestra to continue serving the Southern Arizona community with live orchestral music.

What They Are Saying

"Installing solar is a big step on the path for Tucson Symphony Orchestra to obtain the Arizona Green Business Certification. It is amazing how many green projects are very practical financially for organizations. For Tucson Symphony Orchestra, going green is part of building relevance to the Southern Arizona community by being good stewards of our environment by reducing our carbon footprint"
