The Project
Vernon Economic Development Association's (VEDA) mission is to create sustainable economic growth that increases the prosperity and well-being of the community, while protecting and enhancing Vernon County, Wisconsin's unique environment, which is the foundation of their rural lifestyle and quality of life. VEDA supports entrepreneurship and the development of new businesses; fosters the retention and expansion of existing businesses; recruits new businesses to the county; provides educational forums and technical assistance to municipalities, local development organizations, and businesses; promotes job training and education of the labor force; and serves as a central source of assistance, information, and resources to support economic development.
BQuest proudly supports Hammond Climate Solution’s Solar Moonshot Program with individual grants which helps nonprofit organizations across the United States afford the switch to clean energy. With the help of a grant through the Solar Moonshot Program, VEDA was able to turn a building that was on the brink of closure into a food hub and business accelerator, making products for local markets, home delivery, and more. The organization oversees programs that address food insecurity by delivering groceries to local food pantries and also offers food delivery services to those without access.
The savings that going solar will provide for Vernon Economic Development Association will be invested into growing and developing all of the organization’s many programs that continue to help existing and new local businesses.
What They Are Saying
“Vernon Economic Development Association is excited about our solar project because it will allow us to do our part to slow down climate change. We will also utilize the electricity generated to support our coolers that store produce for our Community Hunger Solutions project, which brings nutritious food to community members who lack access. We see this as a win-win situation for VEDA, the food pantries we serve and the environment. Thank you for your partnership to help us switch to clean energy!”
