San Diego’s Women’s Empowerment Loan Fund crowdfunds business coaching for women

  • by

Only 1 in 23 loaned dollars go to women
The Women’s Empowerment Loan Fund (WELF) is an impact investment opportunity to provide small business loans and financing to women-owned businesses in San Diego.  Systemic bias in our financial systems causes credit-worthy women-owned businesses to be overlooked by reputable banks or overcharged by predatory lenders, and women of color are affected most.

WELF combines financing with expert business coaching to ensure recipients have the resources, tools, and network needed to help their business grow. Through WELF, loan recipients demonstrate positive credit, increasing future access to other forms of financing.
Almost $1M in impact investment capital already raised

Created as a partnership between San Diego Grantmakers, San Diego IRC, and First Republic Bank, WELF is already most of the way to their $1M goal for Round 1 and is open to investment and philanthropic capital.
